The UNC football program is keeping an in-state product home as Jordan Shipp announced his commitment to North Carolina.

Jordan Shipp is staying home.

The four-star wide receiver prospect announced on Sunday that he has committed to Mack Brown and the UNC football program. Shipp chose the Tar Heels over fellow finalists Michigan and NC State.

Shipp’s recruitment started heating up over the last month, as he narrowed his options down to the three finalists. He had the option to join some of his current teammates at Michigan or stay within his home state at North Carolina or NC State.

Ultimately, Shipp decided that Chapel Hill was the right place to be, as he told On3 why he chose the UNC football program:

"“At one time, Michigan was on top. I got the offer and after I went up there for a visit, Michigan was on top. It blew me away and they took the lead. I went back to Chapel Hill again though after that, and there was just a different feeling for me there.…That’s really what it came down to. I can’t explain it, that feeling in Chapel Hill felt like home.”"

Shipp becomes the fourth four-star prospect in the UNC football program’s 2024 recruiting class, joining Zion Ferguson, Davion Gause, & Tyshun White. Currently, 247Sports Composite tabs Shipp as the No. 13 overall player out of the state of North Carolina in his graduating class.

This is a big-time addition for Mack Brown and the UNC football program, as Shipp is a playmaker who could make an impact on the Tar Heels offense from the minute he arrives on campus. His decision is also big in regard to keeping in-state targets close to home, as Shipp felt the best opportunity for him was at the University of North Carolina.
