As we start to learn more about the Class of 2026, this in-state player could be mentioned a lot as a potential fit for the UNC basketball program.

It’s still very, very early in the recruiting process for the Class of 2026.

In fact, initial rankings for this group haven’t been released.

However, this doesn’t stop college programs from identifying potential recruiting targets, as Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program already have their eye on an in-state product.

Coleman Cloer is a 6-foot-6, 180-pound small forward out of Hillsborough, North Carolina. He recently showed off his skills at Peach Jam, averaging 12.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.

While discussing his early recruitment with Travis Branham of 247Sports, Cloer noted that the Tar Heels have made a call to his high school.

"“Marquette, NC State and a bunch of other schools. North Carolina called my school.”"

As part of the interview, Cloer mentioned how he grew up watching the blue-blood schools, stating his desire to play for one during his collegiate career.

He also had some really good things to say about the UNC basketball program.

"“UNC is great. That’s 30-minutes away from my house, I would be close to home and it’s a blue blood. It’s one of the best programs in the country and has been for many years.”"

In the early stages of his recruitment, it appears as if Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels could be in a great position with this in-state target. North Carolina seems to fit what Cloer is looking for in a potential suitor, as we’ll have to wait and see if the UNC basketball program can lure him to Chapel Hill in the future.

For now, Coleman Cloer is a Class of 2026 prospect to keep an eye on.
