Starting this fall, you may see select North Carolina Tar Heels football and basketball games broadcast live on The CW.

On Thursday, the CW Network announced that it has secured exclusive broadcast rights to 50 Atlantic Coast Conference college football and basketball games each season through the 2026-27 school year.

The rights to these live games were acquired from Raycom Sports, which sublicenses the rights from ESPN and will produce all the games featured on The CW.

With this new deal, it is very possible that you will see some North Carolina Tar Heels Athletics featured in the select games.

The CW will be broadcasting ACC college football games every Saturday (either during the afternoon or on primetime) throughout the season. In total, 13 football games will be streamed on the CW during the 2023 season.

In addition to hosting college football contests, this new deal will provide The CW with 28 men’s college basketball games to go along with an additional 9 women’s college basketball matchups. These games will be featured during the. months of December, January, and February, with Saturdays being dedicated to men’s basketball doubleheaders while women’s basketball games will hold the spotlight on Sunday afternoons.

Jim Phillips, Ph.D., the ACC Commissioner, had this to say about the conference’s new partnership with The CW:

"“We are thrilled to be adding The CW to our weekly television lineup for ACC football and basketball games. The CW’s national distribution will directly benefit our student-athletes, teams, alumni and fans. We appreciate ESPN and Raycom working together and look forward to the partnership with The CW.”"

North Carolina Tar Heels fans should take note of this partnership (and The CW channel on your respective television provider!) to make sure you don’t miss any of the action for your favorite UNC team!
