Believe it or not, UNC football has never played these FBS teams

UNC Football vs. Power-5

Of the Power-5 conferences, the UNC football program is most familiar with the Southeastern Conference. The Tar Heels have faced every SEC school except Ole Miss, as a battle with the Rebels would complete North Carolina’s tour of the toughest football conference in the country.

North Carolina has yet to see three Big Ten schools, but that will change during the 2023 season. The Tar Heels are scheduled to take on Minnesota, leaving just Iowa and Purdue as the lone Big Ten foes they haven’t seen on the gridiron.

The UNC football program still has some work to do with both the Big 12 and the Pac-12, as there are a few teams in each respective conference who have played against the Tar Heels.

Big 12

BYU
Central Florida (UCF)
Iowa State
Kansas State
Oklahoma State

Pac-12
Colorado
Oregon State
Washington
Washington State

If you’re talking about popular names in terms of college football programs, it’s interesting to see that the Tar Heels haven’t matched up with the likes of Oklahoma State, Iowa State, or Kansas State. It might take a matchup in a bowl game to get one of these teams on the same field as the UNC football program.

Of all the teams mentioned, which ones on this list would you like to see the UNC football program schedule contests (or series) against during future regular seasons?
