Believe it or not, UNC football has never played these FBS teams

UNC Football vs. Conference USA

This group would’ve been longer if UTSA stayed in Conference USA, but the Roadrunners are heading to the ACC.

There are currently six Conference USA teams that the UNC football program hasn’t competed against:

FIU
Jacksonville State
LA Tech
New Mexico State
Sam Houston State
Western Kentucky

The program that stands out among this list is definitely Louisiana Tech, who has shown they are not afraid of competing against the country’s top teams. Although they’ve had consecutive losing seasons, the program has competed against some top-25 caliber teams, including a game against then-ranked No. 4 Clemson during the 2022 season.

Unlike the AAC, which now features Charlotte, there’s really no team among this list that makes geographical sense for the UNC football program. If the Tar Heels are looking to find some non-conference games, they may elect to contact some of these programs to see if they want to schedule something.
