Believe it or not, UNC football has never played these FBS teams

UNC Football vs. American Athletic Conference

North Carolina has yet to compete against five current AAC programs:

Charlotte
Florida Atlantic
North Texas
UAB
UTSA

Given that Charlotte is relatively new to FBS football (2013), we haven’t seen a matchup between the two in-state programs. The Tar Heels were supposed to play the 49ers in 2020, but the game was unfortunately canceled.

Although some of these schools aren’t too far in terms of proximity, it’s not surprising to see some of them on this given list. As we move along on this list, you’ll see that North Carolina has seen a good amount of the American Athletic Conference, as this is one of the conference lists that features the least amount of teams on it.
