After suffering a torn ACL last season, former UNC football standout Javonte Williams is expecting to be on the field at the start of training camp.

It was a tough sophomore season in the NFL for former UNC football star Javonte Williams, as a torn ACL and LCL suffered in Week 4 sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

As the Denver Broncos inch towards the start of training camp, Williams provided an update on his rehab progress, as he is optimistic that he’ll be on the field at the start of camp.

At a football clinic hosted by Patrick Surtain, Williams stated that “the plan” is for him to be cleared for the start of training camp. He is also expecting to participate at least partially in practices after the team’s veteran players report date on July 25.

"“I mean, that’s the plan. I feel like I’m ready to go.”"

Williams has been working with the Broncos’ training staff as well as strength and conditioning staff over the last few weeks as he looks to work his way back on the field. The main objective is to get Williams healthy before easing him back into team practices.

"“It’s just all about the evaluation, how the Broncos feel about it. Just seeing how I feel, moving, just trying to get my speed back to normal, things like that.”"

The former UNC football star is expected to be a big part of the Broncos’ offense when he’s ready to go, as the organization will make sure they handle his rehab properly to ensure that he returns at full strength. Passing on selecting a running back in the NFL Draft all but shows the organization’s faith that Williams will be able to return to being one of the most productive running backs in the entire league.
