The former UNC women’s basketball player and team captain is back with the program as she’s been added to the Tar Heels staff.

Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program have added one of its own to its 2023-2024 staff.

Former Tar Heel Jaelynn Murray has been named as North Carolina’s new Assistant Director of Video and Recruiting Operations. This newly-created role will support the Tar Heels’ day-to-day recruiting efforts, as well as scouting and player video operations.

Murray spent five seasons with the UNC women’s basketball program as a player, as she developed into one of the team’s biggest leaders. She served as a captain during her final season as a graduate student and went on to intern with North Carolina’s Rams Club Communications team.

In the school’s official press release, Banghart expressed her excitement for bringing Murray back to the program:

"“Bringing Jaelynn back to our women’s basketball family is such a huge win for our program. She brings integrity, passion, and consistent positive energy, no matter the task or the day. She’s been a great player, a great teammate, and a consistent winner in the locker room. Jae loves Carolina and will work tirelessly to help us continue to move this program forward.”"

Murray is now the second former Tar Heel on the team’s current staff. The other is Liz Roberts, who is now serving as the program’s General Manager.
