Add another player to the Class of 2024, as three-star safety Jalon Thompson has committed to Mack Brown and the UNC Football program.

The 2024 commitment list keeps getting longer for Mack Brown and the UNC football program.

Jalon “JT” Thompson becomes the latest to join the Tar Heels 2024 recruiting class. The three-star safety chose North Carolina over the likes of Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, and Louisville.

The 6-foot, 170-pound safety’s recruitment started to heat up as of late, as he made official visits to UCF and then North Carolina over consecutive weekends. He had an official trip scheduled with Pittsburgh for the final weekend of the month of June, but it never occurred, as he decided that Chapel Hill was his future home shortly after his visit ended.

Thompson is ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 61 safety in the country and the No. 93 player in the state of Florida. He joins Davion Gause, Peter Pesansky, Tim Lawson, Carlos Mitchell, and Michael Merdinger as the other Florida products to commit to the UNC football program.

At this point, the Tar Heels are still ranked as the No. 17 overall recruiting class for the Class of 2024. Given the way Mack Brown and company have been hauling in talent, don’t be surprised to see the UNC football program jump up the list, as more commitments could potentially be on the way.
