Mack Brown and the UNC football program got a Fourth of July surprise as four-star safety TyShun White announced his pledge to the Tar Heels.

The Fourth of July is a day to celebrate, relax, and of course, enjoy fireworks.

For the UNC football program, this holiday also includes some big-time recruiting news.

Mack Brown and the Tar Heels earned a commitment from four-star safety TyShun White. The Buford, Georgia native is the second-highest recruit to commit to the UNC football program so far in the Class of 2024, as he’s viewed by 247Sports Composite as the No. 29 safety in his class as well as the No. 39-ranked player in the state of Georgia.

As he commits to the Tar Heels, White will be reunited with Zion Ferguson, who committed to the UNC football program on June 25, as the duo played together during their youth football days in Georgia.

The addition of White is a big one for North Carolina, as they’ve added yet another piece to their 2024 recruiting class. With 22 hard commits in this class already, Mack Brown and his staff have put together a top-20 recruiting class that seems to grow by the day.

Based on recent history, it would be safe to say that the UNC football program isn’t done, as more could be coming in the Class of 2024, while the Class of 2025 shouldn’t be too far behind.
