The former UNC basketball standout will look to find a home in the NBA this offseason as he’ll compete with the New Orleans Pelicans Summer League squad.

Another former UNC basketball standout is set to compete in this year’s NBA Summer League event.

Garrison Brooks has been signed to the New Orleans Pelicans Summer League roster. The former Tar Heel will look to earn a spot on an NBA roster this coming season.

After finishing his college career at Mississippi State, Brooks signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the New York Knicks. He competed in last year’s Summer League and spent the entire season with the organization’s G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.

Brooks was very impressive for Westchester, as he averaged a double-double over 22 games played. Over 30 minutes of action per game, Brooks averaged 13.7 points and 11.1 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.

Although he put together a strong season at the G-League level, it wasn’t enough for the Knicks to give him an opportunity with the NBA squad. With some valuable experience under his belt, Brooks will look to find a new home with New Orleans or even another team by showcasing the skills that made him so successful with the Westchester Knicks.

Along with Brooks, three other former UNC basketball standouts will be competing in this year’s NBA Summer League: Leaky Black (Charlotte), Pete Nance (Cleveland), and Brady Manek (Atlanta).
