The former UNC basketball standout will look to secure a spot on an NBA roster this season as he competes in Summer League action with the Atlanta Hawks.

Brady Manek is getting another chance to prove that he is worthy of an NBA roster spot.

The former UNC basketball standout has signed with the Atlanta Hawks. He is set to compete with the Hawks as part of the upcoming NBA Summer League, his second appearance in the event.

Last summer, Manek competed as a member of the Charlotte Hornets, averaging seven points over just under 15 minutes of action per contest. He was unable to secure a roster spot in the NBA and proceeded to spend the year playing for the Perth Wildcats in the National Basketball League in Australia.

Manek made an impact with the Wildcats, as he averaged 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 46% from the floor. He also knocked down three-point attempts at a strong rate (as UNC basketball fans saw plenty of during his lone season in Chapel Hill), connecting on 40.7 percent of his attempts from deep.

Before heading back to the States, Manek made 11 appearances in the Turkish Basketball Super League.

Manek made a major impact with the UNC basketball program and became a household name in just a short amount of time. He’ll have another opportunity to prove his value to NBA teams starting on July 7, as the hope is that this summer league appearance will earn him a spot on one of the league’s 30 teams.
