The former UNC baseball standout is representing his college club and the Arizona Diamondbacks at this year’s MLB All-Star Game in Seattle.

Zac Gallen is heading to Seattle!

The former UNC baseball star, and current Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher, has been selected to the National League All-Star team. He will be making his MLB All-Star Game debut on July 11 in Seattle as part of this year’s event.

Gallen has developed into one of the game’s best-starting pitchers and has solidified himself as the Diamondbacks’ ace. In 17 starts this season, the former Diamond Heel has an outstanding 10-2 record with a 3.02 ERA over 104.1 innings pitched.

Last season, Gallen really earned his spot in Arizona’s rotation, as he finished in the top five in National League CY Young Award voting. With the way he’s pitching this year, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see him finish potentially higher this time around.

Now in his fifth season in the big leagues, Gallen can officially say that he has an MLB All-Star Game selection under his belt. He’ll have the honor of pitching against some of the sport’s best talents in one of the most anticipated events of the Major League Baseball season.

Zac Gallen, National League All-Star, certainly has a nice ring to it. Although this is a tremendous honor, we’re certain that Gallen has a lot more to accomplish during his time in the big leagues.
