The UNC basketball now knows who they will play (and host) as part of the first-ever ACC/SEC challenge during the 2023-2024 season.

This year, the UNC basketball program, along with the entire Atlantic Coast Conference, will compete in a brand-new challenge.

Replacing the old ACC/Big Ten Challenge is the ACC/SEC Challenge, as the Tar Heels now know who they will compete against in this event.

Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels will host Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers on November 29, 2023, at 7:15 PM at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The UNC basketball program has had some good success against Tennessee, as they are 10-2 in their brief history with the Volunteers. However, Barnes’ squad got the better of the Tar Heels in their last battle on November 21, 2021, as Tennessee rolled to an 89-72 victory at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

This will be a great test for the Tar Heels, as the Volunteers have been a strong SEC competitor in recent memory. North Carolina will have the advantage of playing on its home court, as this is the type of game that could serve as a huge resume booster come March.

As we inch closer to the season, more schedule information will become available. When more schedule news comes along, it just means that we’re even closer to UNC basketball returning.
