Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program are wasting no time in recruiting some of the top 2026 talents available.

Recently, UNC women’s basketball head coach Courtney Banghart took a trip to Merida, Mexico.

The trip was made with a purpose, as she went to support five-star guard Lanie Grant, who is a 2025 North Carolina commit, in the FIBA Women’s U16 Americas Championship.

Grant and Team USA brought home the gold medal, as Banghart seemed to like what she saw from some of the team’s Class of 2026 prospects.

Since the competition ended, the UNC women’s basketball program has extended three scholarship offers to 2026 student-athletes.

McKenna Woliczko, a five-star wing from Archbishop Mitty High School in California, is currently ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in her class (according to HoopGurlz). After averaging a double-double while leading her high school team to a state title, Woliczko was named the National Freshman of the Year by MaxPreps.

Trinity Jones, the No. 6-ranked prospect in the Class of 2026, also received an offer from North Carolina. A five-star guard from Illinois, Jones put together a dominant freshman season where she averaged 20.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.3 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game.

The third offer was extended to Jacy Abii, the No. 9-ranked player in the class. A 6-foot-1 guard from Texas, Abii also secured a state title during her high school freshman season, as she averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals for Liberty High School.

Banghart has put together some impressive recruiting classes during her short time in Chapel Hill. Could this class be the next star-studded group to join the UNC women’s basketball program?
