With scholarships still remaining, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are looking to add additional talent via the transfer portal.

After entering the transfer portal on June 26, it didn’t take long for various college programs to contact Mohamed Wague.

The former West Virginia forward has heard from a handful of programs, including Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program.

North Carolina has three scholarships remaining and could use a player of Wague’s skillset.

As a freshman, Wague averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in just under 11 minutes per contest. He shot the ball extremely well, connecting on 74.2 percent of his opportunities.

Heading into his sophomore season, the Bronx, New York native will look for an expanded role at whatever school he ultimately chooses.

Given the makeup of this UNC basketball team, the Tar Heels could use another big man to help give Armando Bacot a breather. Other than Bacot, North Carolina doesn’t necessarily have another true big man on the roster, as Wague would provide a valuable depth piece that could ultimately progress into a starting role during his time in Chapel Hill.

We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out, but this could be a storyline to watch as his recruitment starts to play out.
