UNC Football quarterback Drake Maye was among the brightest stars at the 2023 Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

As part of the annual Manning Passing Academy, college football quarterbacks had the opportunity to showcase their talent.

Drake Maye of the UNC football program was among the participants and of course, was recognized by On3 as one of the stars performers of the event:

"The “Long Shot Challenge” didn’t last very long on Friday evening. Maye, standing 50 yards from a basketball goal, dropped a pass through the net to end the competition before it got rolling. Maye looked sharp on Friday, and at 6-foot-5, 220-plus pounds, he stands out from the crowd. Caleb Williams is widely considered the top draft-eligible quarterback in college football, but don’t sleep on Maye now that he has a year’s worth of starts under his belt."

Maye showcased why many feel he’ll be one of, if not the, first quarterback off the board in next year’s NFL Draft. According to On3’s report, Maye “stands out from the crowd,” as he connected on a 50-yard pass that dropped into a basketball net (which is fitting given his family’s legacy on the basketball court at North Carolina).

Fans of the UNC football program are well aware that Maye is a special talent, especially after his incredible redshirt freshman season as the team’s starter. Heading into his second year as the Tar Heels starting quarterback, Maye is not only looking to replicate his success from a season ago but is looking to lead the UNC football program to a potential College Football Playoff bid.
