The former UNC baseball shortstop is making his way through the Detroit Tigers organization, as he’s joined the club’s Double-A team.

In his first full professional season, former UNC baseball standout Danny Serretti has been impressive for the Detroit Tigers organization.

The former Diamond Heel began the season in High-A ball, posting a slash line of .284/.367/.441/.808 over 53 games played. With his strong start to the season, the Tigers organization felt that it was time to give the New Jersey native a bigger challenge.

Serretti was promoted to join the Erie SeaWolves, the Tigers’ Double-A affiliate. His first appearance for the SeaWolves this season came on June 24 as he went 1-4 and played third base for his new team. This will be his second stint with the team, as he spent the end of the 2022 season with them as well.

The SeaWolves are in the midst of a great season, as they’ve clinched a playoff spot as the first-half Eastern League Southwest Champions. Serretti will look to impact his new squad as he continues to rise up the organization’s minor league system.

Having played shortstop mostly at the High-A level, it’s possible that the 23-year-old could be used in a utility role for the SeaWolves. He’s a solid defensive player who can play second base, shortstop, and third base, so the club will have options on how they go about using the former Diamond Heels standout.

For Serretti, the hope is that High-A ball is in the past and that his future will be with the organization’s top-level affiliates (and the big league club) moving forward.
