UNC Football: Ashton Woods commits to North Carolina
The UNC football program’s recruiting Class of 2024 continues to grow, as four-star Ashton Woods has announced his pledge to the Tar Heels.
Mack Brown and the UNC football program received good news on Wednesday afternoon, as four-star linebacker Ashton Woods announced that he will call Chapel Hill his future home.
Woods, a Marietta, Georgia native, is ranked by On3 as the No. 28 ranked linebacker prospect in his graduating class. He’s also viewed as the No. 40 ranked player from the state of Georgia.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker made an official visit to Chapel Hill on June 2, a trip that essentially solidified his decision. His recruitment essentially came down to North Carolina and Baylor, with the Tar Heels coming out on top.
Woods spoke about his decision to commit to the UNC football program with On3’s Jeremy Johnson:
"“The closing factor was just the culture there and everyone around the building just makes North Carolina what its all about. The players, Marcus (Allen), I played with him, Caleb (LaVellee) I grew with him and there are a couple of other guys that I’ve played against and have played XBox with and I’m close with. It really just felt like home with the players. The coaches are phenominal.”"
With the addition of Woods, the UNC football program’s recruiting Class of 2024 now has 19 commitments. The recruiting class sits at No. 15 on 247Sports’ Team Rankings for this graduating class.
