Is it possible that the outcome of the NBA Draft could force the Orlando Magic to pursue trade opportunities for the former UNC basketball player?

The NBA Draft serves as an opportunity for organizations around the league to improve their overall rosters. With the draft comes plenty of roster movement, including potential trade opportunities.

As we approach this year’s draft, is it possible that a former UNC basketball standout could be on the move?

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, it could be possible, depending on what the Orlando Magic decide to do with the No. 6 overall pick.

If the Magic elect to take a guard, former UNC basketball standout Cole Anthony was mentioned as a potential trade asset. With the depth the organization has at the position, Anthony, or his current teammate Jalen Suggs, could be dangled in trade talks to bring back some other assets to help improve the roster.

Anthony has spent the first three seasons of his NBA career with the Magic organization. After being mostly a starter over his first two seasons, the former first-round pick transitioned to a reserve role, as 56 of his 60 appearances this past year came off the bench.

The former Tar Heel is a talented guard who has shown the ability to score the basketball. His shooting percentage increased quite a bit from his first two seasons, as he knocked down 45.4 percent of his shot attempts during the 2022-2023 campaign.

Anthony would probably like to stick around in Orlando, but a change of scenery may be good for him, especially if the opportunity to start once again becomes a possibility.
