UNC Football: Lucas Osada commits to North Carolina
Mack Brown and the UNC football program have added a versatile piece to their special teams unit with the commitment of Lucas Osada.
Fans of the UNC football program can tell you just how important special teams’ success is for any college football team.
With this in mind, Mack Brown and the Tar Heels coaching staff have added a versatile special teams player to their 2024 recruiting class.
After competing in a pair of camps at the University of North Carolina, Lucas Osada earned and quickly accepted a scholarship offer from the UNC football program. The Charlottesville, Virginia native chose the Tar Heels over the likes of Duke, Wake Forest, N.C. State, Navy, and Army, among others.
Osada is an intriguing special teams player, as he served as both a kicker and punter for Woodberry Forest School. He is a student of former UNC Football kicker and now kicking specialist Dan Orner, as he’ll now be following in his teacher’s footsteps.
This past season, Osada earned a VISAA Division I all-state selection while also being named the All-Central Virginia football kicker and punter of the season and first-team All-Prep League.
He averaged 44.7 yards a punt with an average hang time of 3.91 seconds and had 23 touchbacks on kickoff duties.
After watching him up close during the team’s recent camps, Mack Brown and company must have seen something they really like in what Osada can bring to the table. Once he arrives on campus, it will be interesting to see what role he fills among the UNC football program’s special teams unit.
