As the UNC basketball program is looking to earn a commitment from Jarin Stevenson, it appears they are getting help from one of their current commits.

The recruitment of Jarin Stevenson appears to be closing in on the finish line as the UNC basketball program looks to make a final push to earn a commitment from the four-star power forward.

Hubert Davis and his staff aren’t alone in recruiting Stevenson, as one of his potential future teammates has also been working hard to lure him to Chapel Hill.

In an interview with Pro Insight, UNC basketball commit Drake Powell was asked about which players he’s recruiting to come to North Carolina, and his answer revolved around Stevenson.

"“Jarin Stevenson. Trying to recruit him.”"

Powell went on to speak about Elliot Cadeau’s reclassification as well as what his future teammate James Brown can bring to the table, but it’s very noteworthy to hear that he’s actively helping in the Tar Heels pursuit of Stevenson.

There’s been a lot of speculation regarding Stevenson’s recruitment, especially with regard to the potential of him reclassifying. Although Alabama seems to be the fit if he believes he’s ready now for the next level, the UNC basketball program has been projected as the potential “favorite” if he does decide to remain in the Class of 2024.

For now, the hope is that Hubert Davis, the Tar Heels coaching staff, and Drake Powell can help convince Jarin Stevenson to stay in his home state by making his way to Chapel Hill.
