UNC basketball top scorer No. 3: Sam Perkins (1980-1984)

  • Career Points: 2145
  • Points Per-Game: 15.9

Even while playing alongside some UNC basketball legends, Sam Perkins still found a way to become one of the program’s most prolific scorers.

Playing mostly alongside Michael Jordan, Perkins provided a very steady presence at the forward position for Dean Smith’s teams. His senior season was his best in Carolina Blue, as he fell just short of averaging a double-double while helping lead the Tar Heels to a 28-3 overall record.

As incredible as his scoring output was, imagine if he was on some North Carolina teams that weren’t so top-heavy with star talent?!
