UNC basketball top scorer No. 5: Al Wood (1977-1981)

  • Career Points: 2015
  • Points Per-Game: 16.0

Wood was the focal point of the Tar Heels’ offensive attack for three seasons, as he took over the reins once legendary Phil Ford’s time with the program came to an end.

As a guard, Wood shot the ball at an impressive clip, knocking down 56 percent of his career attempts. He averaged 18.3 points per game over his last three seasons, including 19 points a contest during his junior season.
