In the rich history of the UNC basketball program, here are the top 10 scorers that made a habit out of putting the ball in the basket.

Scoring a basketball is not an easy thing to do, especially at the Division I level.

However, the UNC basketball program has had plenty of top-tier scorers that have simply made it look easy. Given the prestige of the program, it’s not a surprise that there have been 81 Tar Heels that have surpassed the 1,000 career points mark, the most of any NCAA program by a rather large margin.

It’s been a while since anyone cracked the program’s top 10 list, as Tyler Hansbrough was the latest over a decade ago. This could change in the near future, as both Armando Bacot and RJ Davis are making a strong push toward altering the list!

Wondering who is currently among the UNC basketball program’s top 10 all-time scorers? No worries, we have you covered!

UNC basketball top scorer No. 10: Walter Davis (1973-1977)

  • Career Points: 1863
  • Points Per-Game: 15.7

Walter Davis will likely be removed from the top 10 early in the 2023-2024 season, but it’s important to note what a strong career he had with the UNC basketball program.

There’s no player that defines consistency better than Davis, who was a steady presence in the Tar Heels rotation from the minute he arrived on campus.

Davis didn’t need time to transition to the college game, as he was a double-digit scorer from the onset. He ranked in the top three on the team in scoring in each of his four seasons with the program, as he played a major role in the Tar Heels Final Four run during his senior year.
