Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program have a huge matchup set as part of their non-conference schedule.

Is it too early to be hyped about a college basketball game that will take place in December?

As Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program aim to be among the nation’s best, they’ll have the opportunity to square off against one of the country’s premiere programs.

As part of the 10th annual Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase, Banghart and the Tar Heels will battle against Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies. This will be the third game of a triple-header, as all six teams in the field are currently ranked among the AP Top 25 programs.

In order to be the best, you have to compete against the best, as Banghart is excited about the opportunity for her team:

"“Scheduling competitive opportunities against the best programs in the country remains the priority for us every season. This coming season, we are excited to play UConn at the Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase. This event will bring together many of the great traditions in women’s basketball, shining a spotlight on the greatness of our game. We already look forward to December.”"

This will be a great early season test for the UNC women’s basketball program, who ride into the season with a lot of momentum given their returning talent along with the additions they made via the transfer portal as well as the star-studded incoming freshman class.

Needless to say, this is the type of game that will give us all an early look at what the UNC women’s basketball team is made of.

The Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Tickets are expected to go on sale on September 8.
