Two UNC women’s basketball standouts are expected to represent Team USA at select 3×3 Women’s Series events this summer.

Eight players have been selected to represent Team USA at select 3×3 Women’s Series events this summer.

Two of the players in the eight-player pool are part of the UNC women’s basketball program.

Returning rising senior Alyssa Ustby and graduate transfer Lexi Donarski have been selected to compete on the Team USA U24 squad. The new Tar Heel duo will be joined by Cameron Brink, Madison Scott, Celeste Taylor, Hailey Van Lith, Kayla Wells, and Maddy Westbeld on this year’s team.

The athletes that were chosen by the USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s National Team Committee have a combination of USA Basketball and collegiate experience.

Ustby is no stranger to this format, as she represented Team USA last summer in the Dominican Republic and in Romania. This will be Donarski’s first experience playing 3×3 basketball for Team USA.

This is definitely a different style of play from the traditional 5×5 format, but it’s a style that fits Ustby’s abilities well. For an athletic player like Donarski, she should have no trouble adjusting to the gameplay of the 3×3 competitions.

Both UNC women’s basketball standouts will earn some valuable experiences this summer with Team USA as they prepare for the upcoming season in Chapel Hill.
