The UNC basketball commit is one of just six high school players to make the initial cut at the USA Basketball U-19 Team Tryouts.ย

Out of 35 participants, 18 survived the first cut, as Five-star Ian Jackson is among the players remaining. Heโll look to continue building momentum toward securing a spot on the 12-man roster, which is scheduled to compete in the 2023 FIBA U19 Menโs World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary this summer.
Unfortunately, Jacksonโs future UNC basketball teammate, Drake Powell, did not make the cut. However, itโs important to note that Jackson was just one of six high school prospects to make it through the initial round of cuts, which shows just how talented the group of players that participated are.
The hope is that Jackson will be able to secure a spot on the roster, as the experience of competing in the World Cup would be very beneficial for the future Tar Heel in what will be his last summer before he officially makes his way to Chapel Hill.
