UNC Baseball: Mac Horvath named First Team All-Atlantic Region
In honor of his stellar junior season for the UNC baseball program, Mac Horvath has earned some postseason honors from the ABCA.
What a season it was for Mac Horvath.
The junior put together a very strong season for the UNC baseball program, as he was not only one of the best players in the ACC but was one of the best in the entire country.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Horvath was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region First Team.
The Rochester, Minnesota native was a vital part of Scott Forbes’ everyday lineup, as he ranked among the ACC’s leaders in home runs (second), stolen bases (second), runs (fourth), doubles (seventh) slugging percentage (seventh), RBIs (eighth) and OPS (10th).
Horvath became the first Diamond Heel ever, and the first ACC player since 1999, to record 20 stolen bases, 20 home runs, and 20 doubles in the same season. He posted career-highs in 10 offensive categories while also slugging the second-most home runs at the University of North Carolina in a single season.
All First Team All-Region selections are then nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors, so Horvath will have an opportunity to earn even more honors in the near future. Given the season that he put together, Horvath certainly made his case to be considered for All-America honors.
