Even with Elliot Cadeau reclassifying, the UNC Basketball Recruiting Class of 2024 is still very much in good shape with its three current commits.

As we already knew, the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2024 is regarded as one of the best in the country at this point in the recruiting cycle.

Of course, losing a player like Elliot Cadeau (who reclassified to join the Class of 2023) does hurt, but the crop of talent that Hubert Davis and company have remaining in the Class of 2024 is still very good.

In fact, North Carolina is one of two programs to have three commits ranked among On3’s 150 update for this graduating class.

Ian Jackson is the headliner for the Tar Heels, who comes in at No. 6 overall on the list. At this time, Jackson is the highest-rated ACC commit, as four of the five student-athletes ahead of him have yet to decide on their future plans.

Although some recruiting sites have him rated higher, Drake Powell now sits at No. 41 on the list. The Pittsboro, North Carolina native has been a player to watch, as he’s currently a four-star prospect who is looking to make the jump to being a consensus five-star by the time he graduates.

Big man James Brown just breaks the top-75, as he is now the No. 73 overall player in On3’s rankings. Now heading to Link Academy, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Brown also make a jump up the list, as other recruiting sites already view him as a top 50 player in this class.

It was a surprise to see both Powell and Brown where they are on the list, given that we’ve seen both players jump up the ranks over the last few months. However, the UNC basketball recruiting team has put together a talented group that could potentially even expand before it’s all said and done.
