Isiah Harwell, one of the top-rated players in the Class of 2025, recently discussed his recruitment, including the UNC basketball recruiting team.

The UNC basketball recruiting team has been a steady competitor in the Isiah Harwell sweepstakes.

Harwell, a 6-foot-5 guard who is currently ranked as the No. 5 player in the Class of 2025 (according to 247Sports), is a player that the Tar Heels have been actively pursuing since they extended him an offer on September 22, 2022.

Now that his sophomore year of high school is closing in on the finish line, Harwell recently spoke about his recruitment with On3’s Jamie Shaw. The five-star guard stated that the UNC basketball program was among the likes of Cal and Houston as the programs that have shown the most interest.

When asked specifically about the Tar Heels, here’s what Harwell had to say:

"“This year, things didn’t go like they wanted, but they’re going to have a bounce-back year, as they always do. All the museums and the gyms, the history there, everything is just a cool experience. You can see that one of the greatest of all time (Michael Jordan) went there. That is the college he chose, so that speaks for itself.”"

Even though he can start visiting schools in August, Harwell stated that he hasn’t decided which programs he’ll go to and see first-hand. However, based on his comments, you would have to think that the UNC basketball recruiting team will at least earn an official visit.

The historical background of the program may be enticing for the talented guard, who could look to be the next great guard to make his way through Chapel Hill.
