It’s been a good week for the UNC Basketball program when looking at the construction of the 2023-2024 roster, and more good news was received Wednesday.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program learned over a month ago that Notre Dame transfer Cormac Ryan was committing to the Tar Heels and using his fifth season of eligibility. However, part of Ryan entering the transfer portal also meant him staying in the NBA Draft for the time being and going through the “testing the waters” process.

We’ve seen and heard of Ryan working out at the NBA Combine during that process. The testing the waters process of the NBA draft is great for all college players to essentially receive free advice regarding their draft stock and what is best for them; rather that means staying in the draft or going back to school for another year and working more on improving their game.

The deadline for players to withdraw their name from the NBA Draft is May 31st, at 11:59 PM ET (tonight). On Wednesday afternoon, Ryan announced that he would be withdrawing his name from the draft entry list and returning for his fifth season.

Now that Ryan has made it official that he will be part of the 2023-24 Tar Heels, we can see the roster and lineup coming together. Add in Elliot Cadeau’s decision to reclassify from the 2024 class to the 2023 class, and UNC basketball fans have much to be excited about for next season.
