It’s official: five-star guard Elliot Cadeau will join the UNC basketball program for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

The speculation and rumors can now be put to rest: Elliot Cadeau will be reclassifying to join the UNC basketball program this upcoming season.

As he dominated on the EYBL Circuit, there was plenty of talk surrounding Cadeau’s future plans. Through the 17-game regular season slate of the EYBL Circuit, Cadeau averaged 15.7 points (50.0 FG%, 35.4 3pt%, 87.9 FT%), 9.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. He posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4:1 while leading his team, the New Heights Lightning, to a 13-4 overall record.

After wrapping up Session 4 over the weekend, the five-star guard announced that he will be reclassifying into the Class of 2023. According to Inside Carolina, the Cadeau family confirmed he will arrive in Chapel Hill to enroll on June 10, allowing him to join the 2023-24 Tar Heels for off-season workouts.

This is major news for the UNC basketball program, as they will bring in a dynamic guard a year early to join this new-look Tar Heels team. What he’s proven is that he’s ready for the next level, as he’ll look to dominate the college level this upcoming season.

It’s expected that Cadeau will man the backcourt with veteran RJ Davis, as this could allow Davis the ability to play more off the ball, a role that could help the veteran guard find more open shots. Given what we’ve seen from Cadeau, the Tar Heels have added a tremendous ball handler and passer who should instantly make this team better moving forward.
