UNC Basketball: Caleb Love commits to Pac-12 School
By Jordan Falls
Former UNC Basketball guard Caleb Love recently visited and has committed to the University of Arizona basketball program.
It has been a roller coaster of emotions and decisions for former UNC basketball guard Caleb Love for the last few months. After announcing he would transfer from the Tar Heels, he was linked to several schools, such as Missouri, Indiana, Michigan, and many more.
He eventually committed to the University of Michigan during the first week of April. During the first week of May, rumors and speculation began circulating on social media that fans may not see Love in a Michigan uniform at all. Caleb denied those allegations.
Then just two weeks following that, Love re-entered the transfer portal. We were all unsure at first why Love de-committed from the Wolverines, but then it was reported that Love didn’t have the specific academic requirements to be accepted by the Michigan Admissions Department.
Last week it came to light that Love had been tied to three new schools in his new recruitment process following the de-commitment from Michigan; Gonzaga, Texas, and Arizona.
As we pointed out in that original report, the connection in Tuscon with former UNC basketball assistant Steve Robinson could be enough for the Wildcats to secure the former Tar Heel guard.
Sure enough, this morning it was reported that Love recently completed an official visit to Arizona over the weekend.
Not long after that, Love announced he would be committing to play basketball for the Wildcats next season.
For a few reasons, UNC Basketball fans may enjoy this commitment more than the Michigan one. For one, Carolina and Michigan have much more of a history than the Wildcats and Tar Heels. The more important reason is that there is currently no scheduling conflict between Carolina and Arizona, whereas the Wolverines and Tar Heels could potentially meet in a pre-season tournament next year.
No Carolina fan wants to see Love play against his former school. This works out better for all parties. We wish Caleb the best in the PAC-12, go be great 2!
