UNC Basketball: Cameron Boozer discusses Tar Heels
After receiving an offer from the UNC basketball program, five-star Cameron Boozer discussed the Tar Heels more in-depth.
It was rather surprising that the UNC basketball program offered scholarships to both Cameron and Cayden Boozer.
Both are extremely talented basketball players but have connections to Duke, North Carolina’s biggest rival. They are the twin sons of former Blue Devil Carlos Boozer, which made it seem like they weren’t a pair that the Tar Heels would pursue.
However, don’t let the last name stop Hubert Davis from making an effort.
Cameron, the current No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2025 (according to 247Sports Composite), recently discussed his current recruitment with Eric Bossi of 247Sports. The five-star forward seems happy about having the Tar Heels in the mix:
"“We got on a call with Hubert Davis and he said that he wants to build a relationship with us and see us in person and continue to build our relationship and further our recruiting. It’s a great school, an amazing offer and I’m super happy to have that offer so I’m going to keep looking forward and staying calm about my recruitment."
His father could easily decide to trash-talk the UNC basketball program or even forbid his sons from even considering them as a potential landing spot, but Cameron stated that the former NBA All-Star has been very supportive throughout his and his brother’s recruitment process:
"“My dad supports it. He wants me to make the right decision for me no matter what it is.”"
Carlos Boozer is very aware of how the recruiting process works, so it’s not surprising that he’s so supportive of his sons throughout it. Even if they land in Chapel Hill (which would probably sting a bit for the former Blue Devil!), the Boozer family knows that it’s right to explore every possible option, even if that option is, in fact, the UNC basketball program.
