UNC Basketball Recruiting: Darryn Peterson talks Tar Heels
One of the top prospects in the Class of 2025 and a UNC basketball recruiting target recently broke down his recruitment.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball recruiting team have been showing plenty of interest in Class of 2025 five-star guard Darryn Peterson.
The Tar Heels entered the sweepstakes for the highly-touted prospect when they extended an offer to him back on April 23, and have since been keeping close tabs on the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio standout.
Currently competing for his Phoenom United team as part of the Adidas 3SSB 16u Circuit, Peterson has shown just why so many programs are already recruiting him heavily. The 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 24.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks while shooting an impressive 50.6 percent from the field.
Recently, Peterson discussed his recruitment with On3’s Jamie Shaw, as he had this to say about the Tar Heels:
"“I got that offer last session. That was a big one. They have been watching me. It was a great feeling, but I got to keep my head down and stay focused. I see they like to play out of the screen and roll, and their big on getting their guards downhill and playing with freedom.”"
Peterson, who is also being recruited by the likes of Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State (to name a few) seems to be intrigued by how Davis utilizes his guards. That was one of the focal points of his talk regarding the Tar Heels, as the ability to play with freedom with the goal of having the guards drive downhill could be an enticing situation for him to look more into.
We still have plenty of time in the Darryn Peterson sweepstakes, as it’s expected that more programs will jump into the mix over the next couple of months. However, keep an eye on the UNC basketball recruiting team here, as they seem to be heavily interested in getting Peterson to Chapel Hill.
