UNC Football: When does the 2023 college football season start?
When does the 2023 college football season begin for not only the UNC football program but for the entire Power Five as a whole?
The 2023 college football season will be here before we know it. Of course, it’s never too early to look ahead to the start of the new season!
You may be asking: “When exactly does the 2023 college football season begin?” Well, we’re here to provide the answer!
The college football schedule includes a “Week 0,” where some teams will get to kick off their seasons a week earlier.
There will be seven games played on August 26, headlined by a battle between Navy and Notre Dame, which will be held at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams will also be in action, as his USC Trojans will host San Jose State.
Unfortunately, the UNC Football program doesn’t have a “Week 0” contest, but their opening weekend duel with South Carolina in Charlotte is one that should be worth the wait.
This matchup will feature two very notable quarterbacks, as Drake Maye’s Tar Heels will look to outperform former five-star quarterback Spencer Rattler and the Gamecocks.

By the end of August, you may be on the verge of the “summer-ending blues,” but the fact that college football will be back in action should give everyone something to look forward to!
At this point, we give you permission to begin the countdown to kickoff for Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
