Former UNC football standout Andre Smith has found a new home, as he’ll look to make an impact for this NFC South squad in 2023.

Over the weekend, former UNC football standout Andre Smith announced that he has found a new NFL home with the Atlanta Falcons.

Smith is heading to Atlanta to join forces with head coach Arthur Smith, who is also a former Tar Heel. The terms of Smith’s contract were not yet released.

The 2022 season didn’t start off well for Smith, as he was suspended for the first six games for violating the league’s PED policy. He was then released by the Buffalo Bills and signed with the Tennessee Titans, recording six tackles in five games played.

Smith has played for three different organizations over his five seasons in the pros and would love to find a permanent home for the next couple of seasons. The signing is a low-risk, high-reward type move for the Falcons, as the former Tar Heel could add depth at linebacker while also contributing on special teams.

The hope is that this will be the place where Smith is able to showcase some of the skills that we all witnessed during his time in Chapel Hill, especially during his outstanding sophomore season.
