As the semester ended, UNC Basketball transfers Puff Johnson and Caleb Love officially said goodbye to the program on Tuesday afternoon.

The University of North Carolina 2023 academic semester ended on Tuesday with the last day of exams. With that came a few UNC basketball transfers officially saying their goodbyes to the program.

Caleb Love and Puff Johnson posted one final picture of their locker in the UNC basketball locker room on their Instagram pages today saying their goodbyes to Chapel Hill.

We have known for a while now that Love and Johnson will no longer be part of the UNC basketball program as they entered the transfer portal and have chosen new destinations to finish their college basketball careers.

Johnson has announced he will attend Penn State for the remainder of his college career. Love will join Johnson in the Big Ten attending Michigan.

UNC basketball fans have known for some time about these transfers and this moment would come, it is still bittersweet. Both players have called Chapel Hill home for three years and were part of a memorable 2022 NCAA Tournament run that took Carolina to the National Championship game as an eight-seed.

While it’s sad to see Johnson and Love leave, it felt like this is what was best for the players and the UNC basketball program following a disappointing 2022-2023 season that ended with the Tar Heels missing the NCAA Tournament. I think all UNC fans can agree that we wish Puff and Caleb the best at their future schools.
