With the UNC baseball program’s victory over Gardner Webb on Tuesday night, head coach Scott Forbes reached a personal milestone.

Since taking over as the UNC baseball program’s head coach in 2020, Scott Forbes has helped lead the Diamond Heels to plenty of success.

On Tuesday night, the Tar Heels defeated Gardner-Webb in non-conference play, a significant win in Forbes’ coaching career.

The victory gives Forbes 100 career wins, a milestone that he was able to reach in just under three seasons as a head coach. It’s certainly a testament to what the Diamond Heels have been able to accomplish since he took over for the legendary Mike Fox.

After securing 28 victories in his first season at the helm, the Tar Heels had a memorable 2022 season. The program won 42 games, making a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals.

This year’s squad has 30 wins under its belt heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The hope is that they not only can contend for another ACC Tournament title but also make some noise in the NCAA Tournament.

The milestone is a huge accomplishment, as winning 100 games at a Division I level program isn’t an easy feat. Forbes has shown that he is the right man to continue the program’s rich history and tradition, and the hope is that there are many more wins to come for both Forbes and the UNC baseball program.
