What did CBS Sports writer Chris Trapasso think of the NFL Draft picks that featured some notable UNC Football standouts?

Throughout the NFL Draft, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports provided his opinion on each and every selection that was made.

For the UNC football program, the first Tar Heel off the board came in the third round, but was a pick that Trapasso thought very highly of:

"Grade: ABest pure underneath, possession slot WR in the class. Super-nimble. Flashes awesome ball-tracking skills in tight quarterbacks. Despite his route-running chops and sudden feet, he’s not a YAC weapon. Will be Anthony Richardson’s best friend early."

Downs was selected with the No. 79 overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts, a pick that Trapasso feels will be beneficial for rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Trapasso went on to call the former Tar Heel the “best pure underneath, possession slot wide receiver in the class,” as Downs earned some high praise as he embarks on the start of his professional career.

North Carolina’s next selection, Asim Richards, also was rated rather highly by Trapasso. The Dallas Cowboys received a “B+” for this move, one that is intended on adding depth up front:

"Undersized, finesse type at OT. Typically good hand work. For his size, he works hard to grow roots in pass pro but has to get stronger at the initial point of attack. Prudent depth pick for Cowboys up front."

Similar to Downs, Trapasso also was fond of the Detroit Lions’ decision to draft fellow wide receiver Antoine Green toward the beginning of the seventh round:

"Grade: ADraft crush of mine. Tall, decently filled out, explosive YAC specialist on the outside who showcased plus ball-tracking skill as a leaper down the field. Has all the talent and nuance to be a more productive pro than he was in college."

The Tar Heels’ final pick was Raymond Vohasek, who the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed with the No. 227 overall selection. This grade wasn’t as high as the others, but it adds some more motivation for the defensive lineman, one who has certainly defied the odds plenty of times before.

"Grade: C-Interior DL with NFL size and close to NFL power. Flexibility and burst are lower-level. Not overly athletic. Powerful levers he uses well."

Of course, the grades right after the draft will be looked back on years from now. We’ll have to wait and see if these four former UNC football standouts can carve out long, successful playing careers in the NFL.
