Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have filled a major roster void, as they landed a commitment from Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram.

Heading into the offseason, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program had plenty of holes to fill.

With various players leaving (due to graduation or the transfer portal), it provided Davis and his staff the opportunity to re-shape the roster heading into next season. One of the team’s biggest needs was at the wing position, one that they were able to fill by bringing one of the top available transfers.

Stanford wing Harrison Ingram announced that he will be joining the Tar Heels. Ingram was viewed by 247Sports as the No. 20 overall ranked transfer prospect available.

Based on what we know about Ingram’s recruitment, everything started to trend favorably toward North Carolina. Originally, Kansas seemed to be the top landing spot, but it ultimately turned to the Tar Heels as his likely destination.

Ingram was scheduled to visit the Jayhawks, but elected to “reschedule” the visit. He then scheduled an official visit to Chapel Hill, which came during the time period when he was supposed to be in Lawrence.

To follow that, Ingram picked up three Crystal Ball predictions on April 22 in favor of North Carolina, two of which had original picks for him to commit to Kansas.

In two seasons at Stanford, Ingram averaged 10.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year during his first collegiate season.

Ingram was a high-priority target for the Tar Heels, as they knew they could use a player like him at the wing position. Fortunately, his in-home visit and his official stop in Chapel Hill helped show him that the UNC basketball program was the best fit for him.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have now landed four transfers to go along with two incoming freshman recruits. It will be a new-look Tar Heels team next season, but the group is finally starting to come together.
