There will be history made this summer at Kenan Stadium, home of the UNC football program, as international soccer will be played in Chapel Hill.

On July 19, there will be history made at Kenan Stadium, the home of the UNC football program.

This type of history, however, involves international football, not the football we’re all thinking of.

Wrexham AFC will meet Chelsea as part of the 2023 FC Series. This will be the first time ever that the two historic football clubs will meet on neutral soil.

In a press release about the event, North Carolina athletics director Bubba Cunningham expressed his excitement over this historic event coming to Chapel Hill:

"“We are excited to bring Chelsea and Wrexham to Chapel Hill for this fun and historic event. We look forward to welcoming fans from all over the world, filling Kenan Stadium and creating a fantastic atmosphere for international competition.”"

Group and single-match presale information for the event can be found at FCSeries.com. Public tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Thursday, April 27, as a portion of the money raised via ticket sales will be donated to the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic at UNC Children’s Hospital.
