Dick Vitale isn’t normally a breaking news reporter, but did he provide some intel on a potential transfer that will be joining the UNC basketball program?

We’ve seen some interesting commitment announcements in the past, but this one could potentially be a first!

Long-time college basketball analyst Dick Vitale isn’t known for being a breaking news reporter, but he may have broken the news of a transfer addition for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program.

According to Vitale, Notre Dame transfer Cormac Ryan is set to join the Tar Heels. It’s an addition that Vitale seems to really like, as he cites Ryan’s ability to shoot the basketball (especially from deep) along with his strong defensive abilities as reasons why he should be an instant impact player for North Carolina.

Ryan spent his first four collegiate seasons with the Fighting Irish, as he averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game over 116 games played. The 6-foot-5 guard is a career 40 percent shooter, including 35.2 percent from beyond the arc.

If Vitale is right, this would be a huge addition to the UNC basketball program. We’ll have to wait and see if an official announcement from Ryan is on the way in the near future.
