UNC Basketball: A Harrison Ingram recruitment update
Where do Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program currently stand in the recruitment of Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram?
It’s no secret that the UNC basketball program has been heavily involved in the recruitment of Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram.
After missing out during his initial recruitment, Hubert Davis and his staff are hopeful that he’ll ultimately end up in Chapel Hill this time around. According to Jamie Shaw of On3, the Tar Heels appear to be gaining momentum in this recruiting battle:
"“Sources say these same schools remain involved, with North Carolina and Michigan making strong pushes over the last week. Separate sources say there is a lot of momentum right now for North Carolina. While Kansas was the school I heard early, North Carolina is the school I am hearing about the most currently. Michigan is still trying to make a push.”"
According to Shaw’s report, Kansas appeared to be considered the “early favorite.” However, since then, North Carolina has made a strong push, as they hope to hold off both the Jayhawks as well as the Michigan Wolverines.
This is a big recruiting battle for the Tar Heels, as they desperately need help at the wing position. Ingram is an experienced player who can help fill the void, as he’s coming off a season in which he averaged 10.5 points and 3.7 assists.
Ingram is exactly what the UNC basketball program needs as it continues to reshape its roster heading into next season. The hope is that this reported momentum will carry through, ultimately leading him to make his way to Chapel Hill to continue his college career.
