Could the UNC basketball program be on the verge of landing a pair of transfers as they look to reshape their roster for the 2023-2024 season?

The transfer portal has been rather quiet for the UNC basketball program since landing Paxson Wojcik on March 27.

However, are we on the verge of that changing?

As Hubert Davis and his staff look to fill their open roster voids for the 2023-2024 season, Armando Bacot provided a tweet that has Tar Heels fans waiting in anticipation:

Of course, Bacot’s tweet doesn’t necessarily have to be about basketball. It could be about a potential new NIL deal, or he could be teasing us about a potential return to the Outer Banks series (hopefully with a larger role this time around!)

However, based on his past social media history, Bacot’s tweet could very well be regarding the Tar Heels, as there may be some new talent making its way to Chapel Hill.

The good ole world of social media allows us to see who student-athletes interact with, as two of the team’s top transfer portal targets have followed some notable Tar Heels.

Jacob (@NCweather_wx on Twitter) found that Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram has followed the likes of Sean May, RJ Davis, Caleb Lavalle (a UNC football player), along with Bacot and Wojcik. Since entering the transfer portal, Ingram has been linked to the UNC basketball program, as they were a finalist in his original recruitment and could certainly use some help at the wing position.

Additionally, Louisville transfer Jae’Lyn Withers is also following some North Carolina-related people, including Drake Maye, Kennedy Meeks, and Leaky Black (among others).

Of course, these guys could’ve been following these people for a while. There’s no true way to tell when that follow button was actually hit.

However, with the transfer portal heating up, it’s interesting to see that there are plenty of UNC basketball connections on both student-athletes’ social media accounts, as those connections could very well be helping convince these talented basketball players to join the UNC basketball program at some point this offseason.
