We now know the official start date for the UNC basketball program’s 2023-2024 season, as they’ll host a non-conference opponent in Chapel Hill.

Just 216 days until UNC basketball returns, but hey, who’s counting?!

According to Jon Rothstein, North Carolina is scheduled to open up its 2023-2024 campaign at the Dean Smith Center as they’ll host non-conference foe Radford. It will be the first time that the two programs match up since 2016.

It will be a big night for Hubert Davis and company, as the Tar Heels will unveil a roster that will look a lot different than a season ago.  Armando Bacot and RJ Davis return, but the roster lost a handful of key contributors to graduation (Leaky Black and Pete Nance) along with some transfers (most notably Caleb Love, Tyler Nickel, and Dontrez Styles).

In the prior two matchups, the UNC basketball program handled Radford rather well, winning both contests by an average of 44 points. We’ll have to wait and see whether or not the Tar Heels can put together another strong performance on opening night.

After missing the NCAA Tournament, it’s safe to say that UNC basketball fans are more than ready for a fresh start to begin the 2023-2024 season.

Get your countdowns ready, as we officially can start marking the days until North Carolina takes the floor in a regular season game once again.
