It’s a busy week for UNC football quarterback prospects, as another Tar Heel target is set to announce his college decision this week.

There’s plenty of UNC football recruiting news this week, as two of the program’s top quarterback targets are set to announce their college decisions.

After Jadyn Davis originally announced his intention of committing on March 31, fellow Class of 2024 quarterback prospect Jake Merklinger announced that he’ll be making his decision on March 30.

For the UNC football program, they are still very much in the mix for both players, as the hope is that one of the two players will be Chapel Hill bound.

Merklinger, a Savannah, Georgia native, is considered by 247Sports Composite as the No. 6 overall quarterback prospect in the Class of 2024. Along with North Carolina, Merklinger is still considering Tennessee, Georgia, and Michigan State.

Here’s what the Class of 2024 quarterback had to say about the UNC football program:

"“They’re one of the more recent schools to be in my recruitment. I went up there for the first time in January and absolutely loved it. Coach (Mack) Brown’s success is almost unmatched in the college football world. I have a really good relationship with Coach Lindsey. They also hired (offensive analyst) Clyde Christensen, he coached Tom Brady with the Buccaneers and Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck with the Colts so the quarterback development is very good. And you’re going to get a great degree from a prestigious university.”"

Although Tennessee seems to be trending at this point, Merklinger did have some positive things to say about North Carolina. Could he end up being the next talented gunslinger to join the UNC football program’s quarterback room?
