The UNC basketball program received some good news, as standout guard RJ Davis announced that he’ll be returning for his senior season.

RJ Davis is officially returning to the UNC basketball program for his senior season.

On his personal Twitter account, Davis made the following post, stating his intention to return to North Carolina. This is big news for the Tar Heels, as Davis joins Armando Bacot among the team’s returning players.

Even while dealing with various injuries, Davis put together a strong junior season. The White Plains, New York native averaged 16.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game over his 33 games of action. He was also among the ACC’s best free-throw shooters, knocking down an impressive 88.1 percent of his attempts.

His return guarantees that at least two starters from last year’s squad will be back. Caleb Love still has not announced his intentions moving forward.

This is great news for the UNC basketball program, as Davis will once again be a major factor for Hubert Davis’ team. If he can continue to improve his game, it’s possible that the rising senior could challenge not only for All-ACC honors but for national recognition as well.

With all the uncertainty surrounding the Tar Heels as of late, the recent news of Bacot and Davis’ return is major news heading into the 2023-2024 season.
