UNC Women’s Basketball: Kennedy Todd-Willams enters transfer portal
By Jordan Falls
The UNC Women’s Basketball program has lost another player to the transfer portal, this time it’s Kennedy Todd-Williams.
UNC Women’s Basketball season ended on Monday in the round of 32 after a buzzer-beating, 71-69, loss at the hands of 3-seed Ohio State. Now just days after the season ended, two players have entered the transfer portal. Destiny Adams entered late last night and now Kennedy Todd-Williams is the latest Tar Heel to announce she is leaving Carolina.
Todd-Williams was an important player for the Tar Heels in 2022-2023. She played, and started, in all 33 games for North Carolina. She was second on the team this season in minutes per game, 32, and points per game, 13.4.
In their loss to Ohio State on Monday, Todd-Williams was crucial in North Carolina’s comeback after trailing by 12 almost mid-way through the fourth quarter. Todd-Williams, along with Alyssa Ustby, helped power the Tar Heels back to take the lead after Deja Kelly had left with an injury.
I can’t say that anyone expected this one. Todd-Williams was a critical part of the Tar Heels roster all season and has been one of the key players that Courtney Banghart has built a team around for several seasons now.
It felt like that next season was going to be the year for Coach Banghart with pretty much everyone, except for Eva Hodgson, scheduled to return from this year’s squad. Now, with two players entering the portal, it’s uncertain what next season may hold. This is truly shocking news to all Tar Heels fans.
